After using model to sheet I cannot find the model.
The tutorial book says Concept explorer- layer.
I have 4 layers, Sheet view 3, Title block 3, Dimensions 3 and Drawing 3.
None bring back the model. What am I missing?

Try isolating the layer that the original model was created in. By default that would be Layer1. You can isolate a layer by right clicking on the box to the left of the layer name and pick "Isolate Layer". Isolate layer will turn off all other layers plus set the work plane.

hi,

one question: how can i switch back to my previous state of visible layers after choosing the command "isolate layer"?
i only can find the options "show all" and "hide all".

thx

edit: i realized that i can "undo" the command "isolate layer" to return to previous state. but this is not the best solution, because i have to do this immediately after the isolation of a layer. it would be better to have an extra button "solo" for each layer in concept explorer. a click on "solo" should give "isolate layer", unclick "solo" could return to previous state. like solo-buttons in an audio mixing desk.

I still cannot find the model after isolating layers.
The drawing is in layer 3, above this I see layers 1 and 2 from a previous drawing, should they be there?
I used draw views and then flatten, is this the problem?

you need to make the other layers visible to see them. That's the eye looking logo. Also, expand that explorer so you can see how many entities you have per layer. That would be to the right.

The 4 layers relating to this drawing are visible. The ones before it are from another drawing. I wasn't expecting to see them. The layers of these others cannot be made visible, they are greyed out.

hi,
if some layers are "greyed out" you have to make their corresponding main layer visible first. look for your original model on one of the invisible layers. you can not find it on the sheet layers.

Hi David
If you can show an image with the complete Layer Manger, I might be able to provide more precise info. The image you uploaded shows Sheet View 3 turned on.

Or if you upload your file, I'll make a video show how to turn on/off the various sheets/models.

Well the model won't be on those 4 layers dude. The 3D solid will be on the invisible one. Just click on any of those empty boxes. We are here to help. Many don't get layers.

Hi David
Here is a short video how to track down a layer from an item within a draw view. It can get challenging with lots of layers.

Holler if this helps.

Thank you so much Tim for taking the trouble to help. What other software gives such free one to one support!
I have a better understanding now. I thought I had created a new drawing and did not expect to see all the previous drawings' tree above the sheet view 3. I thought I was only concerned with sheet view 3.

Hi David

Can I post that video on the masterviacad.com site? This is a common question and it might help others. The video includes an image of your file.
