Hallo,

if i bend a solid along a spline it becomes as long as the spline.
Is there any way to bend, so that the solid keeps his lengh.
I have to make a modell of my bendring and i have to know how long the solid ( my piece of silver ) has to be.
File Attachment(s):
bending_to_long.vcp (23kb) downloaded 5 time(s).
awieneke attached the following image(s):
bending to long.jpg (29kb) downloaded 5 time(s).

The 'Length Dimension' tool in the dimensions palette - should help you !

At least using this - you can measure the length of your spline, be it the formation path or one you 'explode' off your solid

Beware though, it only works in a set view (not dynview) - no idea why ! (I did report it)

Thank you jol,
this is the way i try. How the video from punch it showes:
draw the spline >measure it >draw my solid > look for direction >bend.
The result is, when i cut a sheat of metall with this lengh, it is to long.
maybe it is a mistake in my drawing.
so i misunderstood the 3.click when i use the bendingtool.
it says: 'select two points for the bend hightaxis' my phantasie was hightaxis/lenght, sorry.
A different in the views i havn't noticed, do you have a link to your report.

bend tool is excellent -

... but it has the worst tool interface in the whole world history of tool interfaces .. and needs a whole new one

do you have a proposal ?
bend along spline is good for me as a newbie. The other bendingfeatures are in the moment a try and error game, because i do not exactly understand what the bendradius and bendangle means.
