I am only an occasional user of ViaCAD, so please be gentle. I may not have the terminology correct, but here goes. I was working with about five sub-layers (1,2,3,4,5). Contained in those five layers was a Top Layer (reminds me of a folder) that had a triangle next to it. I could click on the triangle and then that Top Layer "opens up" to reveal the sub layers contained within. I wanted to make a new sublayer (6). But I accidentally created an additional "sub Top Layer". In other words, I have a layer with a triangle, I click on the triangle, and I get ANOTHER layer with a triangle, I click on that triangle and I finally get my sub-layers (1,2,3,4,5). I am trying to eliminate the "in between" layer that serves no purpose. A parallel example in a computer operating system would be if you took some files and put them in a folder, and then put that folder in another folder. I can't figure out how to get rid of the unnecessary folder.

You can not move layers in Shark /ViaCAD up or down into containing layers, you can only move them within a group, or at the same level. I am guessing that what you have is something like this: parent A1 child A1 child A2 child A3 grand child A1 grand child A2 grand child A3 parent B1 child B1 child B2 child B3 grand child B1 grand child B2 grand child B3 You can move the parent layers up or down, and the children and grand children will move with them. You can not move a grand child layer up to become child layer, or a child to a parent. One day, maybe, this will get fixed, but who knows when!

Here is what I've got: >Parent >>Sub Parent. >>> (5 sub layers) The "5 sub layers" are inside the "Sub Parent". The "Sub Parent" is inside the "Parent". The "Sub Parent" is totally unnecessary, it was created by me accidentally with one mouse click. There has GOT to be a way to eliminate this "Sub Parent". In 32 years of using computers I have never seen anything in user software that cannot be “undone”. If this were the case, ViaCAD would have no users. using ViaCAD 6, 2D, MacPro with OS 10.6
