hello,

I see a bug on with grid. with SharkFX 5.0 (750)

Preferences do not maintain the settings of the grid to 10x10, from one session to the other ...

it is set to 10x10, and then convert to 9x9 :(

Have you tried upgrading your version of Shark to v5.5?

not seeing that in 5.5 Antoine

however, the grid is still very inflexible

I can't believe there is still no way to ..

- draw a grid that is not centred around the origin .. but to positive x and y where most objects are created
- draw a grid to the extents of a given object
- draw an infinite grid

Good points Jol :) I'll second those.

The grid should also be more transparent. Sometimes the grid can get in the way of the model view :mad:

Hi TT .. glad someone agrees - I've only been nagging for TEN BLOODY YEARS now : )

Anyway .. looking forward to a tuned Grid in V6 Tim !!

With regard transparency .. you can set the grid colour to a lighter grey if you like - this will have the same effect

However, Tim - you need to effect this by default .. grid should be akin to the very feint lines you see on a gridded drawing pad

Well no. I disagree! I've tried this, and it doesn't work! :eek:

Instead of staying a nice subtle silvery grey- it changes opacity depending on what angle the grid is viewed at. Sometimes again, this can be very obtrusive. But I too agree with your final point Jol, these grid lines should stay very faint all of the time, in the background. :)

Another thing I SIMPLY CANNOT UNDERSTAND with regarding Grid

(Yes - after 10 years, you are entitled to shout !)

A new user (or someone trialling the software) opens a new window for the first time, turns on the GRID (which should be under view, NOT workplane) .. and what does he/she see ?

Nothing at all ! You can only assume it's jiggered

It's not till you zoom right in that you will find your grid .. perhaps it's different when setup is in inches .. but try - open a new window and turn on the grid .. you will see nothing

This is just pure UNINTUITIVE, BAD setup !

Hope I'm not here in 2019 saying the same thing ; )

Here's Maxwell's grid .. sorry image isn't too clear - but it fades slightly to the outside of your view - giving the effect that it's infinite

Alias ST is similar

Let's get up-to-date with the Grid - I can't believe it's beyond us !

.. our grid is a left over from bygone days

One thing very much in Tim's favour, is that unlike all these "good-grid" apps, we don't have to suffer that intolerable doom-grey background!! :eek: :D
