save an SFX file that's about 12 GB? On a Mac, with a 32-bit ACIS engine?
And the file isn't finished yet. After more than 3 hours of saving and the file size approaching 12 GB I decided to pull the plug (i.e. force-quit), because I can't imagine I would be able to do anything with this monster.
FYI, the file is the result of an import (711 MB Pro/E assembly). Are such file sizes "normal" in any way? Or have I been stuck in an infinite loop of creating fractal geometries?

Hi Bernd >>save an SFX file that's about 12 GB? On a Mac, >>with a 32-bit ACIS engine? I would suspect you would run out of memory. 32 bits will only access about 3.2 GB from our testing. Is this using the v7 Sp1 beta? Tim

That's what I would have expected. And why I decided to force-quit.

I's 7.0 (929), the version I installed after v7 was released for the first time. I don't have a download link to the SP1 beta.

I sent you links to the Shark FX v7 Sp1 beta. Under Preferences:Filing there is a new option to save as V7 Sp1 format. Try enabling that and saving the file. The savings is related to how much acis data is in the file. You're pro/e import may have a good savings. Tim

Thanks, Tim, I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. Binary fractals instead of ASCII fractals, I guess ;)
