The check object box option is not in version 7 step import, does this mean that step files always get checked on import?

The manual still says its an option and does not reference the stitch to solid option either...

Any possibility of an option to put each part on a separate layers on import, it would be a big help when importing assemblies from step and sat files?

Thanks

Uh no. A layer per object is a bad idea. If structured by layers, I'd prefer to have one layer per group/assembly/subassembly, whatever you call it. I've requested a feature for hierarchically structuring files a long time ago: Object list and hierarchies, but without any effect.
