Any news on Shark becoming 64-bit for Mac? I run into huge data files from Solidworks and could use the extra RAM capability.

you need to watch out on spatial.com

they haven't yet released a Mac version of the ACIS geometry engine - which Tim needs

Can't be far away now !

I just looked it up. R21 is the current release - they usually have a release every year, around the beginning of the summer (NH).

So hopefully R22 will bring us some good news !

possibly Jul 20 by the looks of it

Looks like ACSI R22 has been released and there is no support yet for 64-bit on the Mac - booo !

I can't see whether the thread-safe thing (which allows ACIS to split some of it's business between multiple cores) is implemented on the Mac

Sad they did no supports osx yet, and strange considering the growth of mac market,

one question: the linux kernel can't be ported to osx?, we can even run linux apps with fink

that this means that it will be possible to run two perpendicular surfaces against each others' edges and mutuall trim one by the other without seeing any ACIS Error messages. It would save HOURS or DAYS of time manually kludging crude workarounds that the eyeball can see but a program cannot do because it wasn't enabled to "think" like an artist might stroke a brush or pencil...

The Linux kernel can't be ported? That is a part of the operating system.
Or do you mean the code can't be made to work with OS X, because it is similar to Linux or Unix? I just want to understand your question.

This is what a meant

Curious they have 64 bit for linux and not for osx, it suppose they have very similar estructure, so, a version for OSx should be easyly implemented (for spatial guys)

I agree -

if they'e compiling for unix - can it be so different ?

lots more customers I suspect on the mac than linux

maybe there's something that apple's doing or not doing that's holding things up ?

Or it could easily be political

People don't do serious work on a mac
