Hello Tim,

i just downloaded the ViaCAD Beta (Mac) and it gave me installation errors, while after that the Beta seems to run fine. However, when i start my original ViaCAD 711, it starts now with a registration screen, containing a new serial number and i cannot enter my offical 711 authorisation code again, because it does not allow me to change the (new) serial number in the input field!

What can i do to run my original software again?

Same thing happened to me. I had to re-register and get another authorization code. Not sure if this is the easiest way, but it worked.

I downloaded and installed the beta at home and did not get an error message. Do you recall what the message was?

Sorry Tim, i don´t remember. It sayed something like that i should look into an error log, but i didn´t...,sorry!

o.k. i checked the error log:

"SketchUp.framework" at "/Library/Frameworks" was installed.
"3DxUSBDriver.framework" at "/Library/Frameworks" was installed.
"ViaCAD 3D v5 Beta" at "/Applications" was installed.
"WkMacLibX.zip" at "/Library/Frameworks" is newer and was not replaced.
An error occurred executing script "mv.txt". Error = 256
Installation finished on 2008-01-05 19:37:32 +0100

Thanks for the heads up. We made some changes to the registration code to support changes in Leopard. I fixed the beta such that this no longer happens and uploaded a new installer (same links as before).

How come that the ViaCAD Beta opened with my ViaCAD 711 screen layout and, when I changed things in the Beta, the original 711 version was changed ("Buggered up" to use a good Aussie expression!)?

Each user has their own perferences, stored outside the application. The preferences file is the same for 711 and 735.

Normal workings of Betas appreciated mate.
And, I gather we can still not lock off the 2D foul up of our UI if that is accidentaly clicked ,either still?

The registration info getting removed is now fixed. I uploaded a new ViaCAD 2D/3D installer with the correction yesterday. It uses the same link as before.

You need to re-register the app. Launch the program, fill in your name, company, and hit register to receive a new auth code. Your old auth code will not work with the new serial number. The new mac beta corrects the problem of trashing the 711 registration info.

Tim, I am still a bit confused. I went through that exercise and re-established my ownership of the 711 version with the the new authorisation code.

If I download the Beta, again, will I still have to go through this exercise? Again!
I won't waste my time if so.

I fixed the mac beta and uploaded. Working on getting an update to the windows beta. Will holler back when the windows beta has this corrected.

ViaCAD 2D/3D PC is now updated regarding the messing around with the older installs registration info. Use the same links as before to download the updated beta.

This is what my OWNED copy of ViaCAD looks like.
And the BETA looks exactly the same, including pinching my owned copy UI set up.

VERY not amused!
