Using Viacad Pro 11 Build 1441

I am having 3 issues that tech support can not resolve

1) Aligning a part in 3D
sometimes it aligns fine, sometimes it does not move, after trying 3 or so times Viacad shuts down

2) moving parts with gripper, parts are multi faceted, when you grab the griper to move the part there is a long delay 5-10 seconds and nothing happens, then the parts moves but not where you want it

3) long wait time to save a program and open a program of 20mb or more

using a Dell Precision 7520 with 32GB memory

any help or insight would be appreciated

Have a try of cleaning the part. I've noticed recently, as I've been doing this, as soon as you delete something or move something or anything, go file, compact, clean deleted.
For some reason there is a ton of stuff in there and stuff that seems to have nothing to do with anything. It must be how the program does things.

I started a drawing the other day and then went straight to clean deleted. This was after cleaning before doing the drawing. There was solids, curves, all sorts I mean loads of it. Deleted it all made no difference to the file but that's when I realised why after X amounts of mods and changes this is probably why the software crashes so much.

I'm no programmer so can be sure, it's just me thinking a clean file is a better file

Go to
File
Compact
Then a box pops up and you can pick a few options
Remove history and a few others. Pick the radio buttons you want.
Click ok
Another dialog pops up that tells you how many of what thing is being deleted.
Cheers

Often before moving parts around I will click on all of the parts touching those parts and remove all of their links. Several commands, like the "match face " command, will attempt to stay linked (match face tries to keep the faces together when you move the part). If those faces are not able to stay linked when you move them, the program doesn't know what to do and produces errors or crashes. I believe remove links is under the edit menu.

Thanks for the tip. This might help me out I've had it totally fall over when I've tried to modify parts that have fillets on them. As soon as you take the fillets off it's fine. I'll give it a try next time the problem comes up.

The compact feature has greatly reduced my file size, and the program works a little better.
but for the most part I am still having the same issues as stated above

I think the gripper issue is related to a big file I have it where I tend to click the arrow head and type in a figure instead of dragging.

Oh forgot to say keep doing the clean thing until it no longer says what has been cleaned.
