Does anyone have guidelines on settings for stl export for rapid prototyping? When I use the default settings the files are huge.

By that I mean:

Surface Deviation=
Normal Deviation=
Edge length=
Aspect Ratio=

Thanks in advance for your help,
Art

This issue came up about 6 months ago. Turns out there is a significant error in the way that STL files are written .. making them mostly unusable

The problem was found and corrected, but no (promised) patch was released and no comment was ever made

Personally I find this bloody annoying cos I spent massive amounts of time waiting for hugely oversized files to process .. thinking I was doing something wrong

I know I am not alone in wasting this time

I wasted lots of my time with this problem and lots of my client's time with this problem .. I experimented and reported this problem .. please .. let us have the damn fix !!

Rant over

Art .. this issue is reported 6 months ago here in the beginning of this milling thread .. along with a work around

Tim .. this wait is WAY too long .. oh and a milling / prototyping forum would be really appreciated !

Thanks Jol,

I seem to always be able to count on you for answers.

Best regards,
