My undo has been randomly disappearing.

Mac/Intel 10.4.11 v4 build 668

Anybody else seen this?

Pretty good way to waste a lot of time.

I occasionally unexpectedly get this EMPTY--UNDO

Perhaps Tim you can explain under what circumstances the UNDO stack might empty

For example, I know it empties when you save, right ?

That way we can keep an eye out and try to track this one down

Jol,

It does not empty on save unless you have the preferences set that way (in past versions).

Tim, I don't know the steps yet, I will be watching. I do know that I have been performing a range of boolians and other manipulations, I will be watching and looking for a pattern. I don't remember seeing this problem on any earlier versions.

Thanks for the quick response.

If a command fails (maybe geometry too complex or invalid input) it may leave an empty undo.

Undo empty again.

This time I selected an object and removed links. A couple steps later I checked and empty! Don't tell me that is supposed to happen.

Has this happened to anyone?

This is painful.

Hi Art

Need some more info on this one. Is the problem the Redo is greyed out or the Undo stacked is getting reverted to Undo:Empty? (or something else?)

This time I checked the concept explorer and the history was gone that the object was just an acis object , I believe. I don't believe the undo or redo were greyed out, just empty.

Art .. when you remove links from anything at all .. wave goodbye to your UNDO/REDO stack

It repeats very easily here Tim .. and Art's right .. it's not good !!

- Make a cube
- make a sphere
- union then together
- do some random rounding
- name your masterpiece "Nature Mort en Blue, 2008"

- Now, to the right of it, make an itty bitty line .. of a random length
- Move or scale the random line such that it has history
- now select the line and Edit>Remove Links

Your links have gone .. but crikey, your entire UNDO REDO stack is empty

Was this really your intent Tim ?

I did not get rid of links, just minding my own business.

This is a daily occurrence.

Tim, I did notice that , without closing the program, I opened an unrelated file and it had the problem immediately. I closed and reopened the program, and the problem was gone. Does that help at all?
