Does anyone know how to reliably import Poser Bodies or parts? When I import the attached head, save the drawing, it does not return. I tried the same thing in CU and so far it seems to work fine.

Any Thoughts?

Hello Art

I get exactly the same results, .3ds file seems to import fine into Shark FX but when saved and reopened objects have disappeared. Only workaround I can find is as soon as you have imported .3ds file select all and change object type from mesh to faces, then save the file and re-open.

All the best

Nick,

Thanks for looking at it. I followed your suggestion, and it seemed like it had potential. I connected all the faces (I was happy it allowed me to do more than 2 at once) but I ended up with a 460kb file converted to one that was 67.1 MB. As you can imagine, just to rotate it in space was a coffee break.

So I have to go back to CU. I can spin the head in space and design around it. I am sure I am going to miss Shark, but it is all due Wednesday.

Is this something that might be fixed on the next build? I assume this must be bothering others although I have not seen a reference to it.

Thanks again,

Art

Hello Art

Yep, that's the downside of turning a mesh into a collection of faces, each facet of the mesh becomes an independent nurb surface so the size balloons dramatically. Hopefully this will be addressed by the development team shortly.

All the best

Art,

Found and fixed. Correction will be in next service pack. As a work around, turn on Save Display Lists under the Preferences for 3DS files to save.

Great, Tim, thank much.

The "work around" also got me going again.

The file increased from 3.5 to 13.5 MB but that is totally workable.
