I have a Mac Powerbook (Not INTEL) and am running Shark
fx 5.5.0. On the Cad Conversions forum I read that converting my CO files to V5 or earlier would allow Shark to open them. I did both CO4 and CO5. Both give error, unrecognizable format.

I would like to be able to convert files to Shark when I have to update an old CO file.

Also, can I import my CO layouts or do I have to have an INTEL Mac?

If they can't be imported directly, can you recommend a work around.

You will need v7 to read in Cobalt files (build 464 and earlier).v5 did not read this format.

v7 requires Intel Mac because our kernel provider Spatial stopped supporting universal binaries.

Intel Mac, using Shark V7.

I have several projects that were done in Cobalt (2003) and I was able to open the files by dragging and dropping into a Shark window, and opening the file from the open and save dialog of Shark.

You should be able to double click to open the file if you do the following:
Right click on the file in the Finder
Select: Open With > Other . . .
At the bottom of the dialog change Enable: Recommended Applications to All Applications, and then click Always Open With
Navigate to Applications / Shark FX / Shark FX
Select the Shark application

Your .co files should now open in Shark.

I thought that Cobalt was written by you you (Tim) when you were CADSoft Solution and then licensed to Ashlar. Didn't V5 have an import option for CADsoft files hidden someplace in the import list ?

Surely import of .co files is dependent on what version of Cobalt they were created in. I have .co files created in 2003 that I can drag and drop into Shark V7.

If you are unable to import directly you can always export to .sat and then import the .sat file. Downside is you lose layers and history, but the geometry should be good.

Ashlar changed the file format after we licensed the source code to them.

All my old files from Cobalt are readable (included history) with Shark fxV7. First of all you must open it with Cobalt and export to .co V5 (or V4) and then open Shark / open file / your .co file.
