If I duplicate a part with History .. often the most important part of it's history is missing :

- extrude a solid from a profile or from a surface

- Duplicate part with history

- Now change the length of the extrude in the duplicated part

Well, you can't - because it was duplicated with NO history

Again, I'm sure there's a very reasonable blue-blooded explanation for this .. but meantime, as a designer I would expect to see either:

- the part duplicated with history as requested

OR

- a message saying that due to atmospheric conditions .. whatever .. this cannot be done

I now see why surfaces cannot be "duplicated with history"

Because you omit the crucial creation stage from the history info .. this would dis-include most surfaces from carrying any history at all
