I am currently working on a project that requires an anatomically correct human head (more than one would be better). I found a couple in STL format. Unfortunatly this imports as a mesh, but a mesh is impossible to work with. If I convert the mesh to surfaces I end up with 97800 surfaces and trying to join these together into a solid is more than CU can deal with. Ideally I am looking for models in a solids format that CU can deal with, as I need to be able to cut them up, boolean them etc. Any ideas as to where to find such models would be really appreciated.

I have yet to see an anotomically correct head that is parametric, ranging in sizes from the 5, 50th, and 95% percentiles for male and female, let alone ethnic diversity. That would be very useful for ergonomic studies... I would put that on every CAD vendors list of things to do, especially body types, although it would be very difficult to deal with the variety in Women body types. I worked at a surf shop where I watched women trying to find wetsuits that fit acceptably well for sealing out water and performing properly. I found that the variability in proportions is quite large in regards to women. Good luck Nickb.

I had the same issue with perfume bottles mesh files (from a 3D scanner). Rebuild geometry on the mesh is usually quicker. I know it's not easy with a face. "Change mesh to solid" would be an interesting CU feature :) --- and with a "smooth" cursor...:) :) JL

                >>Change mesh to solid" would be an interesting CU feature You can use the Edit:Change Object Type from Mesh to Solid but as Nick B pointed out, it creates a very heavy file.
