Viacad is lacking in tutorials .
It would be nice if there were some tutorials that involved several functions to help us newbie's out.
i.e. a calculator or???
where several functions are used .
from simple lines to thin and normal extrusions, holes ect......
I went looking for books or DVD's but I Can't find anything.
I realize that ViaCad is powerful and it can do many things but it is also over whelming.
To many tools :-).
that is why I fell in love w/sketchup no tutorials needed while playing it is easy to figure out.
I did ask for a push/pull tool in the suggestion area
but I'm thinking ... If sketchup is so successful with simple tools
And I believe that Viacad also has them ,But are hidden or difficult to use or get at .
Would it be possible to have a special user tool bar to mimic sketchup???
We could call it the Punch bar, or easy bar.
I'm sorry for the long rant but I needed to make a box with a lid. I spent many hours on viacad and finally gave up
I switched to sketchup and was done in about 11/2 hours.
Since then I have gone back to Vcad and accomplished the mission but at a cost of several more hours.
Thanks
Victor

Hello Victor

Agreed we could do with a lot more project based tutorials which do more than just show what the tools are and how they function.

I'd be very interested to see the box model which you struggled to create in ViaCAD perhaps you could post it either in ViaCAD or SketchUp format.

All the best
Nick

Hey it worked :)
the box still needs more work.
I need to add some draft to it since it will be a molded part.
I haven't figured out how to best do this yet.
I also need to add some fillets but that part is easy.
I do have a copy of Rhino but I purchased Viacad because it looked like it
was easier to use, and in most ways yes it is, but I feel it could be easier still.
thanks
Victor
