In any Mac application which doesn't auto-save by default and previously in ViaCad 2D3D v8, if you made at least one change in you document since you saved it, the red "window close" button on the left top of your document window, would have a darker dot in the middle. This is a system wide feature and I find this very handy. In ViaCad 2d/3D v9 this is missing.

I'm running v9.0.5 on Mac OS 10.10.2

ViaCad puts an asterisk after the file name in the widow header when any changes have been made and the file need saving on closing.

Thanks, I had not noticed that.

That sounds like a PC feature, implemented in the Mac version, while taking away the expected Mac feature. The thing that makes the Mac great, is that Apple supplies a framework, so all developers can use the same function on the same place in the same way. This is what the user expects and why a Mac is so easy to learn and use. If you know how some things work in one program, they'll be the same in other applications. The Preferences fx are always on the same place, yet in a PC program it can be anywhere. So why not use this feature the way it should and not do it differently? Both functionalities can be implemented, if this asterisk in the title really is desired. It was there before!

It's a carbon feature rather than a cocoa one. It's there in Freehand which always was a Mac app, but hasn't been updated for over 10 years.

I'm not trying to win an argument here, but I don't agree with you there. :-) It was indeed a feature in Carbon, but it is still, now we are in Cocoa only. Just you don't see it with many of the Apple apps anymore, as they have autosave enabled. You can see it in Mail, when composing a new message.

Fixed in 1155 builds. The code was present to support this, but had an incorrect parameter preventing it from working.
