I actually designing a trainstation for my modellrailroad.
Creating the paved platform was done with square solids copied with linear duplicate function.
With the 2500 objects, created this way, the saving time of the file is now annoying...
I had the same issue, when I created a bullhauling trailer for my rc-Trucks. In this case, the holes in the trailer where the problem.
So my question: Is this normal for any CAD-Software, to struggle with this many objects?

You might want to use reference manager and link the files together so that you don't have to save that number of solids every time you modify something else. That's one approach.
