Extruding a Rectangular Polygon (#4158)

Say I have an arbitrary irregular 3D shape that has a number of planar surfaces. I want to attach a boxy bit to one of the rectangular surfaces. So: - I create a workplace out of one of the planar surfaces (yay!) - I draw a rectangular polygon on said planar surface with the desired dimensions (yay!) - I then try to extrude the rectangular bit to create my boxy bit stuck to the side of my irregular 3D shape (yay?).... but I can't extrude said rectangular bit; it never lights up as an extrudable face (boo!). Actually, when drawing a rectangular polygon, why does it show up as 4 separate, distinct, lines that appear to have no relation?

Post your profile and I'll make a QuickTime movie showing the various extrude options. If the profile is not closed, I can show you how to find the gap or overlap. >>Actually, when drawing a rectangular polygon, why does it show up as 4 >>separate, distinct, lines that appear to have no relation? Try the "Smart Polygon" option. Default is "Single Line". Single line creates individual lines corresponding to the polygon. The lines define the polygon and typically provide more freedom to modify the polygon. A Smart Polygon is defined by parameters vs lines. Tim
