It is amazing how surfing can lead to things not anticipated.

http://www.vbspline.com/index.html

I was simply looking in google for "parametric direction u, v" and landed on a URL that led to this.

Instantly i thought of ViaCAD Pro and the corner filling.

But, prior to that, I kept thinking, "DAMN! I wish Punch! and Delftship would collaborat to make a quasi Rhino/Orca3D product!"

http://www.orca3d.com/support/m...html?orca_quickstart.htm

Just to find out things about Rhino3d and importing my ViaCAD .dxf lines to make them useable by my employer's software that is VERY picky about what .dxf lines it will import, i downloaded a trial of Rhino. Along the way, they have this checklist they ask downloaders to tick.

AutoCAD or Clone

Autodesk Inventor
Mechanical Desktop
Solid Edge
SolidWorks
Microstation
TurboCAD
VectorWorks
IntelliCad
Alibre
CADKEY

CATIA
Unigraphics
Pro/E
SDRC IDEAS

So, then i thought "DAMN! How do we get ViaCAD and Shark on that competition list. If TURBOCAD is there, ViaCAD should be, too!"

i was messing around with this software:

http://www.newavesys.com/news.htm

and downloaded the pro version, which if not activated, allows only 25 saves/imports. It is copyrighted as of 2003, and i find it less friendly than Delftship, even if Delftship has quirks.

Tank Modeling:

DAMMIT, i wish i had a few hundreds of thousands of dollars to spare to cover some introductions, labor and collaboration exploration between Punch! and Delftship. If they formed a division for maritime users/students, there might be the opportunity for subscriptions or a small % of tuition. If Punch!, Delftship, and SQLite could be merged as a product....

They don't mention SketchUp. Okay it's a polygon modeller, but check this FREE plugin out;

http://drivingdimensions.com/SketchUp/download/

Add this to your FREE copy of SketchUp- and hey presto!

SpaceClaim for FREE!!!!!!

Well almost SpaceClaim, but it is free

Didn't know if you were aware that PTC sells a product for shipbuilding. Just for your info and probably not cheap.

Yeh, thanks. I've been watching them (Sener

http://www.foransystem.com/FORAN/index.aspx

) for years (well one of them, about 3 or so years) and their prices are prohibitive for hobbyists. If i had that kind of money, i'd either have to quit or be fired, for possible competition with my employer. But, if i had THAT kind of money, i'd simultaneously run a film/animatino studio (for naval fiction fans), a naval/marine engineering firm for making blueprints (that won't likely get built, but a Trek-like fleet blueprinting agency), and do a few other things, like building yachts to be dreaded... hehehe
