I have tried to shell this part at .2" but it seems to do a partial shell when viewed in wireframe. I want the opening to me on what looks like an oval.
Any help with this is appreciated. I'm pulling my hairs here and only got a few for attraction.
Here's the file which was done in V7.

In VC 7, I converted to surfaces and deleted the end face. Then I thickened the remaining surface with a negative .2 value, and it shells inwards. Bear in mind that the rim of the opening will have a different shape to a shelled solid.

Thanks for the hint. I didn't think of using the thicken surface command. The end portion won't matter since I will be joining with another shelled part.

It shelled, just not completely. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/17073048/core%20extraction.jpg I suggest offsetting the surfaces, then cutting out the core.
