ViaCAD 8

I've seen a video or two that demonstrate the "skin solid" tool, creating complex shapes from 2D polygons and circles and such.

I can get it to work with circles, but whenever I try a polygon (made with the multi-line tool or the rectangle polygon tool), all I ever get is an error:

"Curves must be closed!"

even when I follow the vid in detail (AFAIK) and even use "select chain".

Any insights?

The Skin Solid tool takes one object per skin profile. If your profile consists of more then one curve, you will need to group the curves into one group object.

Can a solid be made by say creating say 6 2D polygons, skinning the surface and joining together?
I have tried this but cannot get them to form the solid.

Yes, if you post your profiles, I can attempt to create a skinned solid.

It was a hypothetical case, I was just inquiring how it could be done.

Tim If you have time I would really like some help on the more serious problem I have in my other thread. http://forum.punchcad.com/showthread.php?p=24834#post24834
