I have read the manual (which at points refers to things not found in the menus). Have use the inspector tool to insure that all the lines touch each other; I have done three or four different arrangements of direction besides the original form that was there from drawing it. I also went through and did join angles, no joy.

It still gives the "Invalid wireframe for cover surface" error. Now the funny thing is that it only doing it on four of the wireframes of this type (there is differences in many of them but not all). So, what do I need to do or learn so that these last two panel can get done and the next stage of model creation can get done?

Thanks ahead of time for help provided. attached is the file that is my problem.

Okay was a problem with the browser and fixed it by restarting and clearing history and cookies. So here is the file. Again thanks for any help on this issue as the program is really proving to be useful, just need to find out why these small problems are coming up and fix either they way i am doing something or a bug in the program.

:o

Found a solution. Don't create a huge amount of line drawings before I go back and put surfaces on. Got rid of the Invalid wireframe and allowed any other errors to be corrected quickly. So another note for folks learning is surface as you go to eliminate any errors along the way instead of having them build in and make things difficult.:D

Michael

PS: Well The problem is back again and going to try to fix it again. Wish me luck as this time I have no idea why it is not allowing cover surface.

fixed the problem. Must use Aerospace setting so that drift that is acceptable in architecture does not happen.:)

Now comes mirroring and merging, things are starting to look very very good.

What "drift" are you talking about?

I've never yet experienced it because I by default (mental default) use Aerospace since it presents my ship models in the view my mind finds sensible.

I wonder why Architectural has an issue Aerospace doesn't. Is it scale-related?

Hi Micheal

I tried opening the file in Shark LT v8 and it crashed the program. You created this in ViaCAD v8 correct?

Can you try exporting the file as v7 ViaCAD and reposting?

Thanks

Jason,

It is Sunday evening and will repost it in v7 as Yes I did post in v8. I was able to get the problem solved but requires using aerospace setting or going through and inspecting each line.

Even though they where drawn suing endpoint to endpoint links or setting exact distances when creating them, I found that the lines would often be off by just enough to keep a consistent plane. Will post the information as i like the program and helping you folks make it better is good for me too.

Michael.
Give some consideration to modeling your part in the solid and carving bits off it, rather than trying to construct it line-by-line in 3d.

I've attached a video that tries to help you in your efforts.
It isn't the quickest way to do it, but just shows a few of the useful tools in your arsenal.

Martin,

Thanks for the video. Showed a lot of tools and interesting ways to use the program. I was able to get the drawing to work from wire drawing and looks great. Will be able to very exact cutting done with the mill.

Jason the file that was the problem file will not open now but causes a shut down of v8. While that annoys for the ability to find out what was wrong, I currently don't know what to do to get it to open. I will try anything you want me to but don't know what to say.

This is really saving me time though as combs that I was dreading having to set up for cutting due to the amount of tight tolerances and close surfaces now are a lot easier and should have a good bit of them done by the end of the week.

take care and have a great day

Michael

Tim, I am a bit confuse. About V8! If I understand you began with ViaCad series for the new V8 version in beta. Where is the core of your beta testers? Is it a Shark FX user??? Maybe not? Can we know your strategy for a short and mid time? I want to test your betas, but I want to stay with FX for this work.

I have the FX build 968...and I am not sure that is the last build. I read about a trial version with B969, I read about Shark LT V8. Yes, you have a lot a products declination and it's for this reason you must to be very clear.

Thanks!

Hi JF

>>Where is the core of your beta testers? Is it a Shark FX user???

By far the largest number of users are ViaCAD. ViaCAD is sold direct by Encore and by some large brick/mortar retailers (OfficeMax, OfficeDepot, Fry's, Staples).

>>Can we know your strategy for a short and mid time?

Encore has asked Evolution to provide the following products:
--ViaCAD 2D/3D App Store (going through apple certification now)
--ViaCAD 2D (Q3 2011)
--Shark LT (Q3 2011)
--Shark FX (Q4 2011)
--ViaCAD Pro (Q1 2012)

Regarding development, we have one source code for all products. The difference between the products is functionality turn on/off by compile switches. The functional differences is also heavily related to contracts Encore has ( ie Spatial). However, as I develop, I'm usually working with Shark FX.

Regards

Tim

Thanks Tim, for your clear answer. I will wait for the FX beta in Q4, and I suppose that the B968 is the last build.
