I use sketchup (a lot) and one of my favorite things about the software is the view manipulation. Middle click and drag= orbit. Middle click-SHIFT-drag= Pan. Much cleaner than having to switch over to the space bar for panning. Plus, I saw the attached tip, that seems to indicate that this nav style was once included (or still is and I can't figure out how to make it work). It would also be sweet for us tablet users to have an additional modifier key provide zooming, say middle click-option-drag. IIRC Rhino has this feature, albeit with the right mouse button, and it makes navigating with a stylus a dream.

Both options are now implemented in the next release. Shift/Middle Button = dynamic pan Control/Middle Button = dynamic zoom

NICE! Talk about customer service! Thanks again, Tim. While we're on the subject - another nice option is what is commonly called "Trackball" orbiting, where the view rotates around the z axis. Works really well when working on archvis stuff - helps keep the model grounded.

Yes I like that too .. it should be a preference I know it's not really the same, but you can lock the z axis when you rotate by pressing z

Just throwing this out there. In NX you can hold the middle and right mouse buttons down simultaneously to pan. To dynamic zoom you click the left and middle mouse buttons simultaneously. You can also use the middle button wheel to zoom, just like in Concepts. So you never have to use the keyboard to switch tools, which makes it nice. Just a thought.

Hi Mark, On Mac, use the control key with left button to emulate right button on mac. This conventions is supported by the OS, not just ViaCAD. (I somehow edited your post and lost your some of your text....sorry!)

Ain't no Mac greenhorn, here, Tim. I know how to get a right click, it's the middle click that presents a problem for me on the trackpad.
