In the user manual, it briefly hints that you can add your own custom textures to the Render Library but doesn't explain how. In fact, here is what it says:

"Textures Install folder

Custom Textures Install Folder

You can add user-defined textures in BMP or JPEG format to these folders. Textures must be divisible by 8 for OpenGL."

I have attempted to add some jpg and bmp patterns to that folder, but they fail to appear in the Render Library when I open it.

How exactly is this supposed to be done?

Hi

Custom textures are new to ViaCAD 2d/3d program as I believe Tim said in a different post that it will be inserted in the next Beta for ViaCAD v7

Yes, please try in the beta. Ryan has some work in progress.

Right click in the material window in an area where a material icon does not exist. Select the "Create new..." option in the menu.

Select a bmp anywhere on your machine.

The bmp is copied and placed into the ViaCAD texture folder of your user documents directory. It's reformatted into something the render dialog can use (ptx, pti) file.

Let us know how it works. Ryan's trying to make it easer to add custom images to the opengl rendering feature of ViaCAD.

Still having some issues. I can get the bmps to show up in the Render Library, but the textures aren't showing up on the objects. See http://forum.punchcad.com/showthread.php?p=15635#post15635

This seems to be working good, for some bmp files, but is there a limit to the size of the bmp? Some bmp don't see to work well.

2nd question Once you apply a material to an object , how do you remove the material to get back to object with no material applied?

I think there should be a drop down box in the inspector tab materials to show the applied material name and a sorted list so you can change on the fly without having to open the entire render window. Also a way in inspector to take the material off the object completely.

Thanks

Post or email bmps that don't work and I'll have Ryan take a look.

HI Tim

When you right click on a imported texture they needs to be an option to delete, There is no easy way to delete textures you imported so if they don't work or you don't want anymore then the user needs a way to delete.

Thanks
