I am trying to import a model of a bearing from a mojor bearing manufacturer. I can import SAT or STP with no problem, but since they give the option to import Catia, I thought I would try. The file comes from them with a .CATscript file extension, not .CATpart. So when I import into Shark, I get nothing. Using verify object count, I can see that there is absolutely nothing in the model. What am I doing wrong ? Shark FX b969 Windows 7 Thanks Ryan

Hi Ryan We read .CATPart, and .CATProduct. I believe .CATScript is a visual basic file. Tim

I will continue to import as SAT then. What would the advantages of Catia be over this format ?

For CATIA V5 translation, we use the same DLLs as in the CATIA V5 application. It's pretty good with bringing over surfaces and solids.
The guys at Lockheed have given the CATIA V4 and V5 translator a good work out.
http://blog.punchcad.com/index....full-scale-display-model I typically recommend SAT only if the other system is based on ACIS (not a translation, native format import).
