Is there some universal scale factor I can set so I don't have to go in an set every single variable? Dims are all too small and it seems logical there should be a single scaling factor to change that.

Have you tried selecting all your dimensions and then going to ObjText / Size and changing the size ?

If you have multiple items visible the best way to select only the dimensions is to use the Selection Mask (Window / Select Mask).

JFC .. though they shot you - sorry, bad joke !

To set the default .. you need to deselect everything and then set the dimension size you want in the pulldown .. same for colour, font and so on

It's a clever solution, but it's never been clear for new users .. and has hence driven generations of Shark users nuts

I'm pleased to say - Tim's found a really good solution to this now .. which hopefully we'll see soon

but where is "set dimension size"

I can't seem to find it and I've been through the pulldowns so many times I've lost all my hair.

Yes, amazing isn't it .. there is no button .. it drives everyone insane !

However, once you understand how it works, it's ok

To set a default ..

..Just set the dimension size WITH NOTHING SELECTED !

If you do this then every dimension you draw thereafter will adhere to this default

(.. or am I misunderstanding you?)

Maybe we are talking two different programs. I am running Viacad 2D. Maybe that feature is something available elsewhere, but not here.

Hi.
In ViaCAD 2d/3d, you highlight icon 1 in the attached photo, and then item 2 appears on the menu bar. Set your options there.

Alright, it seems that everything has to be done over and over again.

What you are all telling me is I need to find EVERY single dimension variable and calculate what it will change to if I use 1/2"=1'-0" scale. Then have to change it all again if I decide to rescale to 1"=1'-0".

This is why I was asking for a universal scaling variable. I want to set all my dimension defaults once, then change the scale universally as required.

Now do you understand what I am asking for?

When you change your scale under the Page Layout, check out the Preserve Annotation Sizes option. This will preserve all your dimension & pen attributes to be the same size on the printed drawing.

>>Alright, it seems that everything has to be done over and over again.

You can also change all the dimension text sizes in one operation by having them all selected. Pick the Edit:Select All, then go to Text:Size to pick your desired height. Use the Verify:Select Mask if you want to filter out text from dimensions.

Preserve Annotation Sizes is not an option available to me. I am using ViaCAD 2D , V5.0.0 build 713. My print layout looks different.

It might be as well if you let them know at customer service when you bought it, as V6 of ViaCAD 2D/3D has been out for over a year now, so I assume the same holds true for the 2D version. They might sort an upgrade out for you if yours was old stock and paid the new version price. VC 2D/3D v6 has moved on a lot since it came out.

Hope you get sorted.
Martin.
