Is it possible to convert any of the built in text fonts into a object that could be extruded into a solid ? This would be extremely useful for embossing and other applications.

The extrude tool will take a Text entity from a truetype font and extrude into a solid. If you look around 4:30 in this video you will see Text used as protrusion.
http://www.csi-concepts.com/Demo/videos/signet_ring.mp4 I'm also researching an emboss tool that would work across non planar surfaces using a new API recently added in ACIS R25.
