Struggling with this a bit, i've completed the rest of the instrument no problem but pretty much stuck on this part, any ideas on how to approach it?
Thanks

Reuben5150,
I see that your original post is about 3-months old so this may be too little too late, but I took a shot at the violin scroll. Challenging indeed, but I managed to prototype a very rough start using VIACAD 2D/3D V9. I used Interpolate Spline (see the blue, green and gray) curves in the image and then skinned them. It would obviously take some dedication to perfect the model, but here is what I came up with to get started:

Great! I'm starting modelling some violin and cello plates, but I do not understand how to model the compound surface of the plates. Skin Surface? Sweep Rails? Any one have some clue? Thanks!

When trying some options for my projects I found another methode to realise a violin scroll.
Perhaps more easy to do but also in simple outfit.
I bent only a volume-body along a curve. The body and the curve is to optimise for a real construction.
