Since I'm not a computer guy at heart and much of what I see regarding the inner workings of computers and operating systems makes little sense to me. However, I have access to a young fellow who helps me out when needed. In anticipation of finding a suitable suite of programs for my operation, about a year ago I built a computer with the following components. I3-3250, 3.5 GHZ 8gig ram Firepro V3900 graphics Windows 7 These parts are definitely budget minded pieces, but as I understand it most cad programs run on a single thread, so why not just get a fast dual core processor. Keep in mind, additional rendering is not important to me. I've been running the trial version of Rhino, and it is very stable and fast, even while importing a fairly large obj file, but I'm thinking I may need to upgrade the GPU and ad more ram before I get Viacad Pro/Powerpack...what do you think? Hi Jon,
I would wait to upgrade the pc till after actual testing your parts and workflow with ViaCAD.
