First of all over all I really love this program and the concepts behind it. The interface and methods are fairly easy for me to grasp coming from sketchup.

But here are my concerns I need to address and most of these are probably my ignorance:

1. Bill of material: Easy to understand. BUT some how whenever I do manipulations on a object sometimes I lost that objects name attribute. Same if I copy an object it does not copy the name.

This means I am probably doing something wrong. But constantly having to rename objects uses up a great deal of time. Like I said I am probably doing this wrong. When I watched one of the videos it had a eyedropper attribute copier. But as far as I can tell it does not copy the name. It would make sense to me to have that option.

But I need to know how to mass edit names or how to prevent the names from being changed.

2. Push / pull: The push pull gives more problems than I can say. I have spent 14 hours straight doing things with it. And I have problems duplicating a sucessful operation twice in a row.

This so far is my greatest concern and the main one that gives me pause before I purchase the software. I can literally model using only push / pull in sktechup and produce an entire bunkbed in under 15 minutes- because the push pull can snap to any other plane of a edge, snap point, or surface of any other object.

I need to be able to push / pull and snap to endpoints, edge, face of other objects on same plane. I watched the videos and you seemed to be able to do this in the videos but I never got the same behavior for my self. Again what am I doing wrong?

3. Push / pull selection: this rarely works for me at all. If I draw a line or shape onto an object, set the work plane to the object, select the lines and try push pull most of the time it does not work.

But I can exit software and restart the project and the same operation works fine- then it stops again.

This really is frustrating for me. I assume these things are happening: a gap in the lines, on the wrong plane, or an angry demon is blocking my cursor! ;)

I am a visual designer- which means I like to take objects and rotate, push pull to length etc. Right now either I am doing something wrong or there is a bug.

4. Software crashes:

Total crashes yesterday: 7. The crashes always occur on dimensioning, rotation, translation, or undo.

The last crash gave an error about msvcrt.dll (sp?? (it closed before I could screen capture)) error so this could be my system causing problems not your software. Although I did see there are forum posts about similar crashes during rotation actions.

5. Lastly I keep struggling with mass edits for example with rendering, or line changes I have problems say changing all the line colors in a model from white to black. Or editing a material and apply to whole model instead of one object. Being able to render in lifelike wood is important when closing a deal with customer.

That's it I am not complaining, Of all the software I can afford your is the best fit so far. But these are the problems I need to over come. ANd as I said in another post I am not adverse to paying $20 to $40 bucks for some specialized online tutoring on overcoming these issues.

in inspector you can batch name objects when more than one is selected.
in powerpack -> utilities there are two options regarding naming.

first, switch on "face snapping" in inspector -> gripper. with deep select a face and gripper you can snap to coplanar faces.
you can use the tool "move face" instead of push/pull. choose "move face", select the face of your solid and specify two points for moving. when specifiying the "two points", normal snapping tools will work.

open select mask in menu window -> select mask. select white color in the mask, click inside your drawing and do a select all. you can easily select all white lines and give them black in inspector.

Thanks rokoko for the tip. I've added this in the next edition of the Tips and Tricks book.
