CNN did an article today on advancements in Light Aircraft Design.
http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/21/aviation/light-aircraft-land-sea-air/index.html They talk about the SkiGull, designed by Burt Rutan. Rutan uses Shark FX to design the SkiGull. Some images of the SkiGull from Shark plus a quote from Rutan regarding Shark in the link below.

It's a great compliment to your application that Rutan uses Shark, Tim. I remember one of the frequent commenters to Matt Lombard's old Dezignstuff SolidWorks blog was a guy who designed planes, he always seemed to be grumbling how unsatisfactory SW was for him, someone ought to steer him towards Shark and Aeropack. I'm amused by Rutan's declaration in the CNN article that his SkiGull would be his last design-and-build, while in the Darcorp AeroPack flyer he says that it's "his first post-retirement design"! Perspective. He's probably showing his wife the CNN article....and I hope he's sharing pilot time with her, because I know what my wife would say about relegation to a tandem seat...

:)
He's actually been using AeroPack for some time. I think around '99 I visited Scaled and gave him and his guys some training.
The guys at Darcorp are great to work with. Darcorp was founded by Jan Roskum who taught at the University of Kansas. His student design team consistently placed high in the AIAA design competitions sponsored by Lockheed. One year instead of prize money, Lockheed set them up with a student lab using the aircraft CAD software we created. It was a good arrangement for Lockheed as they hired more than a few graduates from Kansas already trained with the tools! When I left Lockheed, Darcorp funded the AeroPack development.
