I get the icon bouncing, a dialog mentioning it was downloaded (to which I replied "Open"), and then it stops bouncing and sits forever. When I sample it in Activity Monitor, it appears to be trying to display a dialog box, but there are neither any windows, menus, or dialogs visible onscreen. According to the stack it should be displaying the registration dialog box. What happens if you Right Click on the app icon in the dock and click Hide. Then once again with Show. Tim

I should mention that sometimes I do see menus (sometimes takes a minute to appear), but no dialogs or windows whatsoever. When I click on the icon, and hit hide, followed by show, nothing happens, no windows/dialogs visible. Also, "Show all windows" does nothing either. One detail I did notice: There are two white rectangles behind everything else onscreen, but neither has any controls visible, and if I select the smaller (which looks about the size of an OS dialog) and hit enter with it "active" then the whole app disappears and eventually a few secs later crashes (as I get Apple app crash reporter, notes below). I cannot get any other actions to occur, and clicking randomly around both shows there are no "undrawn-but-active" hit select regions anywhere for either. The smaller dialog does appear to be blocking the larger dialog somehow (based on being able to click in the smaller and press enter, and thereby cause the app to quit -- suggests there's some kind of warning/error that the app _thinks_ is being drawn/shown but really is not. If there's a build 1310 available, why are new purchase downloads being given links to 1308? I purchased my upgrade from ViaCAD Pro 9->10 yesterday (haven't received any serial yet either, just DL links). So... first off, any notion why the dialog text, etc. aren't being drawn? Second, how can I download a full 1310 image to try? It turns out that I was able to drag the top-most undrawn (smaller) white rectangle out of the way, and expose at least one underlying dialog (see attached image). As noted, the topmost undrawn (smaller) white rect dialog is blocking everything else, and ending it causes all other dialogs onscreen to disappear followed by the crash I mentioned in my prior posting. I went in and deleted the "/Users/Shared/.sysprefs.ini" file which was causing the underlying error dialog, and once I did that, the next time I restarted ViaCAD Pro 10 it came up with the expected registration dialog (and it appears doesn't need a separate serial number). After going through normal activation, everything now appears to launch and run as expected, as still does my ViaCAD Pro 9 install (at least on quick inspection), so apparently deleting the existing .sysPrefs.ini file has been thus far acceptable. So a few bug reports: 1. Specifically, ViaCAD Pro 10 on initial launch needs to better handle existence of admin-protected /Users/Shared/.sysPrefs.ini being present from prior ViaCAD Pro install (as in my case). More generally, devs need to understand that multiple simultaneous failure conditions can occur, and need to be able to accommodate multiple-failure situations than just putting up undrawn dialogs. 2. Email sent to customers after purchase is processed needs to CLEARLY state that no serial number will be needed (or else provide one in it), and that program will self-activate on first launch instead. How disaster recovery is supposed to be handled is still unclear. 3. Your Order Support website is missing product entries for "ViaCAD * v9" and "ViaCAD * v10" products, and clearly needs to be updated with them. If there's a formal process for me to file these as proper bug reports (or otherwise better way to report them), I'd be happy to do so. If so, please explain how, or point me at instructions? Not off to a great start with ViaCAD Pro v10, IMO, but hopefully some time with the new features will make me feel better!
