I'm trying to learn how to use the gear option for a transmission I'm designing. The problem I have encountered is with the Spur gear option . I know how to enter the number of teeth(Easy), mow to create the module (pitch diameter divided by number of teeth), pressure angle ( can retrieve from catalogues) . where I'm running into problems are 1. clearance, what is this for? what is the formula? is this the clearance between the teeth? If so the measurements tor the teeth are affected in the design of the next option. 2,involute samples, 5 are mentioned . basically that is the formula for the design of the involute teeth. but where are the 5 defined? I hope there is someone who can answer All these questions , because they are extremely relevant for theuse of the program. Respectfully Tom.rice
