Cannot replace parts in viewports

So this is one thing that is always a big trouble spot for me. I create some print out pages using the MTS, and then we need to change some of the parts. Well, I have already dimensioned these parts in the viewports. So I delete the parts I don't want anymore out of the viewport, but when I paste the new parts into the viewport, the old parts I deleted always reappear.
It ends up that I have to recreate the viewports and then re-dimension all of the new viewports affected by the changes (which is a lot).
Oftentimes, I place the dimensions in the model to avoid this, but this time, there are so many dimensions that I tried to just do it in the viewports. Sure enough, now I have to now change it.
Is there a work around, or is an update coming to fix this??
In the picture, I placed a circle around the parts that I need to change.
Thanks,
Sam

I have figured out that I can move the problem viewport to the side. Then I create a new viewport with the new parts. I can copy the dimensions from the old viewport to the new viewport. However, I believe if I delete the old viewport it will delete the dimensions back out of the New viewport so I keep those, and print a pdf for backup. Curious if there are any other ideas.

>>So I delete the parts I don't want anymore out of the viewport Are you deleting parts in the viewport or from the parts that made the viewport? Tim

I am thinking that I have tried it both ways. It is a design change where we are removing the part(circled) and replacing it with a different part. This time though, I tried to delete the part in the viewport.

I have experimented with it on my V10 here at home, and sure enough, deleting the part in the model works like a champ. I feel a bit dumb. lol. I will try it out on the v12 at my shop tomorrow. Thank you, Tim.

I created a layer called unused parts, and dump parts I don't want into that layer and turn it off in case I for some reason want that part later. I didn't delete the part, I just put it in my unused parts layer.
Next time, I will make a copy of it into the unused parts layer and then delete it.

Deleting the part in the model is working every time. This makes drawing so much easier. Thanks.

When you do a draw view you can make the view from layers. So if your solids are on separate layers you can select/deselect them. This had issues last time I used it and it was all reported so it may have been fixed or may not have been fixed
