The sketch to make an extrusion or revolve does not move with the part (#4788)

I come from a SolidWorks environment so my transition to ViaCAD has been difficult. I have a couple basic questions that hopefully have a simple answer. 1. In SolidWorks, you make a sketch, dimension it, then extrude or revolve it to make a part. If you want to make changes to the basic shape of the part, you go back to the sketch, which is parametric, make changes, and the model updates to the sketch. In ViaCAD the sketch does not appear to be parametric, I can't dimension it for future reference, it does not "stick" to the model if the part is moved, and it does not update the model if you change it. 2. In SolidWorks, to make an assembly, you open an assembly model, when you assemble parts, you mate faces or surfaces or points and they stay mated that way. In ViaCAD, I don't see an assembly mode, and when I assemble parts by faces or surfaces or points, they don't stay mated the way I put them together, they move around. What am I missing or doing wrong? Thanks, Dave

Hi D3d, The sketch usually remains associative to the solid that is based on it, but can remain separate from the part. The advantage is that you can have your sketches outside the part and modify them easily, which can make it easier ( uncluttered) but also confusing if coming from solidworks where one learns that they stay together. So, there is no editing a sketch in sketch mode, jusr edit it directly, the feature associated with the sketch will update (usually), unless the sketch has an issue or the feature has an issue with the sketch. You are doing nothing wrong, it's just a different approach.
