I recently had to take a scorched earth approach to fixing some computer problems on my CAD/CAM machine. The version 7 disc I purchased when I purchased my copy of V7 installed and validated just fine. However, when I tried to update to SP1 it fails to run. It appears to install properly, but it does not run.

I get, "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." I have already tried reinstalling the SP twice and get the same result.

Before somebody suggests it. Upgrading to V8 might fix all my problems, but I just don't have the extra $100 spend right now.

The installed from disc V7 still works, but I can't not seem to update to SP1.

Suggestions?

I hate when people ask a questions trying to solve a problem and then never bother to come back and share what they found. So, here is what I found.

It works now. The problem is that it installs some slightly different versions of some of the redistributable libraries (third party software) that were not applied until the computer was rebooted. Somehow I missed seeing any messages that said I needed to reboot the computer, but I noticed it when I installed the V8 Demo. So, after rebooting I excuted the SP1 Version of V7 and "Viola!" it worked.

Hopefully this helps somebody else, and hopefully others will do the same.
