When joing arcs or even to some extent just drawing arcs I get a result that looks a lot like a series of line segments. When I use this joined arc to generate a 3D shape and then machine a pocket to mold that shape I get some unacceptable results. Particularly cutter shaped "corners" where some of these "lines" end in my arcs instead of averaged curves dependent for finish only on the percentage of stepover of the cutter.

Is that the real functional equivelant of what is happening? How do I fix it either by getting real curves or forcing it to line segment at a factor of 10 or 20 times of what is appearing to deliver.

Using ViaCad 2d/3d. Latest version I believe.

Its ok if you think I'm idiot and its a stupid question. I don't mind. Just lead my gibbering self towards finding the solution.

Bob.
I've not had any problems with ViaCAD making inaccurate geometry, but I'm wondering if you might be referring to this matter?

Or maybe something to do with stl facets being reproduced on the workpiece?
if it is a facet problem, then you could have a play with the mesh size when you export your part from ViaCAD and see if it helps.

Martin.

That could be. I'll read that blog link right now. No. I don't think so. I understand about display resolution. It could have something to do with the way STL files are exported I suppose. I have just been using the default settings since I don't really know what they mean.
