So I realize V8 is not compatible with Win8.1, but what about V9?

V9 works with Win 8.1. If you still have graphic display issues, it's likely fixed by updating your video driver from the vendor vs MicroSoft.

Thanks for the quick reply. I used VC on a mac prior to getting a pc. On the mac, to open a DXF file; I could not simply double click the DXF file to open it. I had to open VC and then select Open or Import to open the DXF file.

Will this be the same case on the PC with V9? I'd like to be able to double click a DXF file and it start VC and open the file.

Yes, I have double click by default such that it just opens viacad files.

Does VC9Pro have backwards compatibility with XP. A user on another forum claimed it says so somewhere on the retail site, but that they were unable to make the installation. I was all gungho to make the upgrade, cleared some credit card funds, chased down my serial numbers, but I am not ready to upgrade operating systems and maybe hardware at this time.

I have VC 2d/3d V8 running reliabley on my primary XP Pro working computer.

Here it is. So is the other user whose experience I mentioned atypical of installing on XP?

Launching failed because of an issue with the program installation... at least if you meant the German localized version.

in general, VC9 launches/runs under XPSP3.

Interestingly, even on Win 7, with both the V9 of Shark FX and VCP (builds from around last week), I got at-end-of-installation error of installation problem/s. But, I hit OK, even though it appeared the install would be unwound, then I searched the programs file path, found the .exe, and ran Shark and VCP betas just fine.

I have upgraded to VCPro V9 with windows 7 SP1 and have had not problems with install nor any current bugs showing up; even some of the ones that where showing in the beta are not showing here as I have tested it.

When do those of us with windows systems get 64 bit? I mean with my current system I can have up to 16Gb of RAM on board no problem. That does not really benefit a 32 bit program even running on a 64 bit system.

Outside of that issue none so far and some of the new tools coupled with all the old bugs being gone is making a hull design I am working on much much easier.
