I think the collapse method needs some fine-tuning.

I know to use the Preferences, User Interface, Dialog Collapse Delay. But, it is akin to on/off more than flow-respect in behavior.

When I am applying a color or changing an attribute via the Inspector, for example, and then float my cursor over the collapsed Default Pen palette, then hit or try to hit enter to apply the color or new attribute, the Inspector may re-collapse faster than I can hit Apply. But, if I change my preferred collapse time out or delay, then that later on becomes frustrating when I am really moving at a good clip/tempo.

So, I suggest that the parent action palette collapse be "suspended" further when a downstream invocation is in progress. If the user abandons application of or change of an attribute, then the initially-collapsed parent paletted can revert to the user's collapse preferences.

This is just one of around 80 enhancement ideas I came up with over a year ago, and have not seen arrive independently of my own input, or at all.

What say ye? Am I misinterpreting the Dialog collapse dialog?
