Lately, I've been finding the Slab tool to be very interesting, if not more useful than surfaces thickened to solids. But, it depends on what I'm doing that can undo some of my excitement. But, I just had a moment of excitement with the Slab tool. I learned that I can move a face in a direction and do it far enough to move off of the face to which the slab was made to face-match. When I create a curve and project it as a surface to a curved termination, then thickent it, it is okay -- provided the thickness stays within the bounds of the termination object. But, If I change the thinckness. Sometimes, if I one-rail sweep to a larger body, something under the skin/inside the program is going on, and I find I am not allowed to sweep to a certain solid anymore. I can work around by using a one-rail sweep if a solide won't work, and a solid from surface if a curve won't work. Maybe the underlying unfairness of the parent curves in the hull cause the model to be "mathematically dodgy", messing up certain projections. I found that while a generic slab has handles that can be grabbed and moved to change the slab's thickness, the handles become gone or unavailable if one of the faces is modified with the "Face Match" tool. But, a fairly easy workaround was to use the following tools (either/or; not both) -- move face -- offset face At first, I assumed the offset face tool would behave as the "offset curve" tool, by creating an additional face. That was not the case (rhyming not intentional, mind you, hahaha). Doing that thickened the face, and I found the faces in both cases could expand beyond the width of the surface that was the termination face.

By the way, just in case it was not clear... Slab to which I am referring is that on the tool palette, not on the menu under Architecture. The two slabs have different icons. From the tool palette, one is directed to select three or more points, then accept by escaping or another named method. From the Draw/Architecture/Slab, one starts by having to select walls to which the slab will be attached. I have not explored it. In fact, I only noticed it yesterday.
