How can I properly add Medium Density Fiberboard to the properties box? I need to be able to calculate the weight and density of MDF but am not sure how to "add" this so it will remain a selectable option from here on. Any ideas?

Through your Materials.ini file. Application/Shark Folder/Environ. Make a copy before...take a look in the file and you will understand. You only need the MDF Density...Or tell me the density and I will do for you.

It is difficult to target the MDF Density, because is depend of the thickness. A good average is 700Kg/m3 (.02528911 pound/Cubic inch).
Included the .ini file. I don't know if the file is good for ViaCad, is modified from Shark FX.

Re: 6 or 8 decimal places Tim, inside the .ini file it says "...max of 6 decimal places" but in the Shark software it looks like 8 decimal places (because i tried 9 and it rounded it to 8 places). Is it 6 or 8 decimal places max? Thanks. phil

I checked the code and see that it is reading and storing a double precision value for the density. So that means it has 16 total digits of precision. 16 digits to store the whole and decimal part. The ini file mentions 6 decimal places, I suspect that is in regards to our ACIS kernel which uses 0.000001 inches as the same point tolerance. Tim
