As the title suggests I'm new to CAD software and am currently trialling ViaCAD. Anyway, I've got two questions, one general the other specific. 1. Are there any tutorials relating to floor plans. I've measured up my house, inside dimensions (wall to wall) and want to CAD it. 2. I'm having issues with the wall gadget (or component). I can set the thickness and length. I can connect another wall component to the end running off at any angle. If I go back to the first wall drawn and change the length:-
How do I keep the second wall connected to the end of the first wall? How do I dictate the direction of the extended wall? How do I then break a 4 metre wall component and insert a door/window?
Steve.

Did you look at the tutorial in the help menu for Arch Tools?
This tutorial explains the wall tools.
The walls will auto join when they are moved together but they will not remain associative, ie if you move one wall away from another the remaining wall will stay in its original place.
Doors and windows will auto break into wall sections, you pick wall and a point on the wall and it will automatically break the wall and insert the door or window.

Thanks Jason. I've just watched the Architectural tutorial video; now downloading it. In my version of ViaCad only some of the tutorial videos work, for some reason they weren't downloaded when I downloaded ViaCad last week. Anyway, the links and advice posted seem to answer my questions, no doubt this will lead to other questions. Steve.

Menu bar : Window / Concept Explorer / Layers: I'm not getting the same info as provided in the tutorial. My options are:- Construction, Dimension & Layer1. There is no reference to Wall Tools, Wall Driection or Rooms as shown in the tutorial. I have walls drawn on the screen, both drawn in opposite directions as shown the the tuturial. Any clues please. Steve.

It looks like there should be an example file to go with the tutorial, which would include the created layers.
