I don't understand why I can make a simple 3 or four sided multi-line polygon in 3D mode, zoom WAY in, and see no problems, but when I try to cover surface, it reports gaps, with only a request that they must be fixed before that can be done.

Can someone out there help me understand why this pops up and what I can do to fix these darned gaps or prevent them from ever being created in the first place?

I assume the polygon you create is closed. When you make them into a surface you select the lines one by one holding the shift key and only let go of the shift key when they have all been selected.

...or please explain further...

Thanks, that did the trick. I guess I need to write down all these little quirks, as well as any snaps or other settings that may effect the outcome.

DanL,

somebody already wrote it all down and called it a manual (sorry couldn't resist). You will find that once you read it things go much easier. You can to almost anything with this program, it's a wonderful tool. Good luck.
