If I draw a randomly spaced set of circles in Viacad 9...is there a way to export the locations of the center points as text locations "x,y"

In some cases I don't want to use a CAM program, I'd rather have a list of the x,y points and use them to write G code by hand....

I figured I try this but no go. Under the Verify Menu there's a properties command that brings out an ascii option but that doesn't work with mines as nothing gets saved. I'm on a mac running sharkfx. I believe that same command is in viacad.

There's also a check objects under verify menu which brings up a save as button but the file created is empty. I'm not sure what is supposed to save when you hit save as.

Tim can you verify this.

Try the Area 2D Data Set from the Windows :Attributes and BOM Tool. Then do a Export BOM. This resulting text file will contain the x, y CG which is the center of a circle.

dxf files are quite readable for this opened in a text editor. You've got x,y cords of the centre and the radius, not too hard to make it out.

Yup! If this is a top view (no transform used) you can search for Circle where the codes:

10 = x
20 = y
30 = z
40 = radius
