I'm helping a friend do a kitchen cabinet remodel. So Im wondering if VC or Shark have a means to turn the symbol library into a standards tool for modeling different configurations of kitchens. Whereby one can design a library of 2d or 3D custom cabinet doors, drawers, molding etc and then drag and drop to change.
I've never used the symbols tool so I have no idea how to customize.
Anyone have any experience with this to shed a bit of light?
Thanks!
**or can anyone recommend a good software solution for designing kitchens and bathrooms? Cheaper is better but should be versatile.

I designed our kitchen using Kraftmaid 3D Models about 10 years ago, they used to be free from the Kraftmaid spec. website but
I no longer see this available. The models can now be downloaded from:
https://3dwarehouse.sket...&backendClass=entity They will be a Sketchup file, but usable in SharkFX 9, which I am using.
I don't know if you are familiar with Home Depot, but they offer a free design service and I think software.

Thanks, I see so many nice renderings online of kitchen designs but believe it would take so long to model my own one. It's also the satisfaction of being able to do something myself and custom rather than just pick and choose — a bit less fun this way. Home Depot has their own proprietary software? I guess I haven't spent enough time in their stores. More Menards in Wisconsin where I am half the year and my friends house is. I'll check out 3d warehouse. Hopefully it's free.
Doesn't Punch have some home design programs? I've never explored them but it seems like they would have a simple kitchen design tool. Would be nice if they did exist and it could integrate with shark so I can model and import custom cabinet options myself.
Also I did not know that you can import sketchup files into shark! Does it import into a useful geometry such as recognizing a cube "as a cube" that can be treated (edited) as solid geometry?

You can create your own cabinets or download them from the internet and save them to your symbol library using "Save as Symbol" under the file menu. These will be put in the "User" folder inside the "Symbols" folder in the "com.encore.viacadprov9esd" folder. You can also add folders in the "User" folder to further organise your symbols if needed.
These kitchens were done using TurboCAD, but ViaCAD can do the same easily with a good set of symbols.

Mitch thanks — that's exactly what I am looking to be able to do.
