There are times when I want to join a punch of line segments, curves, etc and I DON'T WANT the software to mush them up and average them out. Often I want to leave these elements exactly the way I drew them, but join them together to make other operations easier. I am sure a CAD program as powerful as this one has a polyline join tool somewhere that this raw neophyte beginner just can't find.

Yes, I set the tolerance to zero. Yes, I know I can work with them for most things as separate elements as well, but sometimes its not that easy to actually do.

Hi Bob

You can try the group function to keep the entities together without joining them.

Jason's method is the best while preserving the underling geometry.

If you absolutely need a single polyline, you can do the following:

-- Select the splines, arcs, circles and do Edit: Change Object Type : Polyline

-- Select the Join Curve and select the Polylines to join. The individual Polylines are merged into one Polyline.

The Join Curve tool when used with Polylines merges shared edges. It does not make a smooth curve.

The number of points in a spline, arc, circle, ellipse converted into a Polyline is based on the display resolution. A Polyline has less information then the original spline, arc, circle, or ellipse which is why Jason's method is generally more preferred.
