Ok,

I bought this and it seems to be able to do what I am wanting it to do. I've gone through some of the tutorials and so far they've been very good. but I can't seem to get the very first tutorial with the goblet to work. I've followed the instructions to a letter and every time I try to extrude I get a "curves not Planar" error message. I've looked for gaps... etc. everything is on the same layer... what's else could be going on?

The Lathe tool wants the 2D profile to be in the same plane. Sounds like one of your curve points got out of plane. If you upload your profile we could take a look.

You can also use the Project Curve to Plane to force the profile into just 2D.
