Smoothing a transition between two surfaces

Hi,
I have created two surfaces that share a common edge. The long (orange) skin surface was created using two guides and two curves, one of them is an edge belonging to the blue surface.
After joining the surfaces into one, where they meet, there is a small but noticeable edge or a crease.
How do I get rid of it to have a smooth, continous joint surface?
I've tried filleting, trimming the surfaces back a little and creating a lofted surface in between , thickening them and trying to create a blend on the solid... nothing works.
The attached images illustrate the situation - any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Mark

One thing I have been doing is, create a new layer, change the surface to curves (keeping the original) put planes on the long edges of the curves. Intersect the surface with the planes to generate new curves. These will be coming across the shorter section of the swoopy thing in your image. Use the curves to recreate the entire surface (skin surface or similar). Use Coordinate compare to check back against original surface

Thanks but the problem is that doing that will not recreate the whole surface properly - it's just too long and curvy. I've tried skin with quides and a net surface. That's why I needed to make it in two pieces and join them. The way they are created they ought to be perfectly tangent at the joint, yet they show this discontinouity.
