Rectangle tool - changing the width and height (#2508)

Is there any way to change the width and height of a rectangle drawn with the rectangle tool. It seems that the rectangle once drawn becomes a group of separate lines.

Hi, Alan When you draw a rectangle you click the points and then you can hit the tab button to toggle into the width and height boxes to change. You can also in the top after activating the rectangle tool use the drop down that lets you pick single line , or smart polygon, the smart polygon allows the width and height to change anytime by just clicking on the rectangle. Alan, like Jason, I also tend to use smart polygon mode too, then under "edit" in the menu, select "change object type" which splits a smart polygon into single segments. Alternatively, if you have Shark and Shark FX, you can use parametric constraints :)

Thanks guys. solve a lot of frustration. Guess I will need to look up at that part of the bar more often.

The smart polygon option is a really useful tip - thanks. But is there any way of going the other way? There doesn't seem to be a "change object type" from the lines to a polygon. If fact I can't find a way of "joining" two connecting lines together other than as a group. Is there a way of doing that?

No it doesn't seem so. You just have to start from a Smart Polygon, and go from there. If you want constraints, you've got to get Shark (FX).

The Join Curve tool will take two lines and make one polyline. Tim

Any chance of the composite curve option vs the standard join curve. To be able to join entities into a polyline (composite type of curve) without modifying for continuity or converting to group.
Thanks

YES!
Jason....this is about the second or third time you have asked for this and I have also asked for this. Having this facility would be a massive plus!
I hope Tim can find a way to make this happen:cool:

Otherwise we'll have to call the dudes who administer the concrete boots while playing a little tune on the fiddle from those funny looking violin cases  :D
